Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Rumors: Why Verizon Probably Won?t Get The ?Phablet,? Sprint Variant Possibly Spotted [VIDEO]

Samsung's Galaxy Note 2 was finally revealed officially on Aug. 29, just ahead of IFA Berlin. The Korea-based manufacturer confirmed the features and specs users can expect to see on the Galaxy Note successor, but that doesn't mean the rumors ended there.

No official release date for the Galaxy Note 2 has been revealed, as Samsung has just slapped a fourth quarter 2012 launch window on the device. The company also left out another crucial component in the equation: Which carriers would offer the Galaxy Note 2?

This informational gap leaves plenty of room for more rumors and speculation although the device has already been revealed, and it seems as if tech junkies and critics have wasted no time. One such rumor says that the Galaxy Note 2 will make its way to Sprint, according to a post?in the XDA developers' forums.

One forum member posted that when browsing through Samsung's research description framework (RDF), a new unannounced phone was found labeled as Samsung SOH-L900. The user reached out to the source who confirmed that it is in fact the Galaxy Note 2, and based on its model name it seems to be designated for Sprint, according to Ubergizmo. This has yet to be confirmed by Sprint or Samsung, so it can only be considered rumor at this point.

Although no official announcement has been made, it is believed that the Galaxy Note 2 will not be released for Verizon. One indication of this is that benchmarking websites, which measure a device's processor speed and other specs, only showed Galaxy Note 2 statistics for AT&T and T-Mobile.

Verizon also revealed its own iteration of a "phablet"-style device?with its LG Intuition, which is a tablet-smartphone hybrid featuring a 5-inch display and its very own Rubberdium pen. This is undoubtedly Verizon's answer to Samsung's widely successful Galaxy Note device.

The LG Intuition became available for purchase on Thursday in the United States and will make its way to shelves in Verizon stores on Sept. 10.

Previous rumors have indicated that the Galaxy Note 2 will make its way to all U.S. carriers just as Samsung's Galaxy S3 did, but that has yet to be confirmed.

"Hope the rumors are correct, totally unfair if it's not offered to all carriers," one user commented on the official Verizon Wireless forum. "Should be able to get any phone you want without having to change providers."

If the rumors are correct and Samsung does not release the Galaxy Note 2 for Verizon, this will be one of the few features that does not align with the company's approach with the Galaxy S3. Before the Note successor was even officially announced, reportedly leaked images and benchmark results indicated that the design was similar to the company's flagship smartphone.

"The physical design and materials are a direct match to Samsung's Galaxy S III," wrote Vlad Savov?of The Verge?when describing the Galaxy Note 2.

The device contains the same 8-megapixel camera of the Galaxy S3 and the software interface looks nearly identical.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 won't be released until the fourth quarter of 2012, leaving the company plenty of time to reveal more information about its next-generation "phablet."
