Politically Foul
Politics: it's not a game exactly. But there are rules, and when you break the rules you are running?Politically Foul!
Mitt Romney made a pit stop for some campaign trail carb-loading at a bakery in Pennsylvania. Too bad he left his sportsmanlike conduct on the tour bus. Unhappy with his baker's dozen, Romney said: "I'm not sure about these cookies; they came from the local 7-eleven bakery or whatever."
Flag! Yard pass interference! Disrespecting the host is not the ticket to more votes, Mr. Romney. Pennsylvanians take their baking seriously and are now calling the incident "Cookiegate."?Let's hope Romney's standards for leading the country are as high as those for baked goods.
Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown's batting average took a hit this week. It was reported that the Red Sox loyalist received a $2,500 campaign contribution from the president of the rivaling New York Yankees.
Foul! Not illegal formation, illegal donation! The Brown campaign justified the transaction, saying:? "This is their way of paying us back for Babe Ruth."
President Obama daydreamed while honoring NASCAR champ Tony Stewart at the White House this week: "It's good to see number 14 on the south lawn.?Every year I try to take a lap; nobody lets me do it. But I am still holding out hope that, at some point, I'm going to be able to get behind the wheel."
Flag: 5 Yards! False Start.? Really? The Secret Service won't let you drive, Mr. President? They seem pretty permissive these days.
And finally, Ron Paul is taking it to the digital playing field?.of video games. That's right, the Ron Paul inspired video game "The Road to REVOlution" will debut this summer. You can take your Super Mario inspired virtual Ron Paul through all fifty states to collect gold coins and delegates. If only collecting delegates were so easy for Mr. Paul.
Those are the politically plays we flagged this week. Tell us your?best and worst moments and we'll survey the field again next week.
