easyJet, the UK's largest airline, has celebrated flying 55 million passengers to and from London Stansted Airport since its first flight took off in 1998.
The milestone highlights how easyJet has grown since launching its first route to Copenhagen in 1998 followed by Munich in November the same year and then Geneva one month later.
Fourteen years later and easyJet now operates more than 82 flights and flies 15,000 passengers each day from London Stansted with a choice of 26 destinations throughout Europe.
Over the past 12 months alone, the airline has operated more than 29,000 flights and flown in excess of four million people on domestic routes such as Edinburgh and Belfast, as well as summer sun and city break destinations including Alicante, Malaga, Tallinn and Munich.
easyJet marked its latest milestone, of flying 55 million passengers to and from London Stansted by celebrating with champagne and cupcakes for all passengers checking in for flights on Thursday lunchtime.
Hugh Aitken, easyJet's UK commercial manager, said: "We're excited to celebrate our milestone here at London Stansted and look forward to providing flights for many more millions of passengers from the airport in the future.

In celebration of this milestone and in an attempt to bring a ray of sunshine to London Stansted passengers, easyJet has officially launched its 'Escape the Great British Summer' sale with seats available from? ?40.49 (one-way, including taxes based on two people flying) to summer destinations such as Naples, Nice and Majorca.
